The Advisory Committee of the FTSEGood indices has decided to include Banco Popular and Iberdrola on the FTSE4Good IBEX index from 20th September onwards. Following these additions, the index, which contains the best Spanish companies in the field of sustainability management in their business activities, will have 34 members, an increase of 26% on the number of companies included when it was created in 2008.
BME and the FTSE Group (FTSE) index provider created the FTSE4Good IBEX index in April 2008, with a calculation basis of 5,000 points at 31st December 2002 and comprising 27 Spanish companies listed on the markets operated by BME that had adopted socially responsible business practices and complied with the social responsibility and environmental criteria established by FTSE4Good.
The index is reviewed on a six-monthly basis (March and September) and this continuous assessment ensures that companies do not allow their social responsibility policies to become lax.
Attached is a list of the companies making up the FTSE4Good IBEX index.
