ETF Securities has published the first edition of its Global Commodity ETP Quarterly. Thought to be the world’s most complete reference for investing in commodity ETPs, the report provides thoughtful insights into the world of commodities and is aimed at helping investors make more informed decisions regarding this rapidly growing asset class.
The report is filled with key statistics and details the large and growing choice of commodity ETP exposures and strategies around the world. It seeks to explain the key factors driving commodity ETP performance, reviews emerging trends and highlights key risks and potential opportunities within the sector.
Commenting, Nicholas Brooks, Head of Research and Investment Strategy, said:
“The commodity ETP market has been growing at a rapid pace since the introduction of the first commodity ETP in 2003. Global assets in commodity ETPs have tripled in just the past two years and last year rose by nearly 50% to reach US$163bn. The growth in the market has been driven by a number of factors including rising demand for ‘hard assets’ as sovereign risk and currency debasement concerns have become entrenched, the strong long term fundamental outlook for commodity returns as rising emerging market demand and limited supply pushed prices higher and just simply the fact that increasing numbers of investors are gradually becoming aware that they can access commodity markets through commodity ETPs.
As the market has grown – both in terms of assets and diversity of exposures – there has been increasing investor demand for a dedicated and comprehensive guide to the products available and the fundamental factors driving their performance. The Global Commodity ETP Quarterly has been created to meet these needs.”
