According to data from ETFGI, the global ETF and ETP industry’s net assets reached a new all-time high, hitting $19.25 trillion at the end of October.

Global ETFs Reach Record $19.25 Trillion in Assets
This figure surpasses the previous record of $18.81 trillion recorded in September 2025.
During October, the industry recorded net inflows of $279.04 billion. This marks the 77th consecutive month of net inflows. Year-to-date net inflows have thus reached a record $1.82 trillion, a value higher than the $1.45 trillion in 2024 and the $1.04 trillion in 2021.
In terms of performance, the S&P 500 index rose 2.34% in October, with a year-to-date gain of 17.52%. Developed markets outside the United States advanced 1.69% for the month and are up 29.83% in 2025, with Korea (+18.88%) and Luxembourg (+6.71%) leading the monthly performances. Emerging markets rose 1.71% in October and 24.50% year-to-date, driven by strong returns in Taiwan (+8.60%) and Hungary (+8.41%), as reported by Deborah Fuhr, managing partner, founder and owner of ETFGI.
The global ETF industry currently comprises 15,347 products, with 30,007 listings, managed by 928 providers on 83 exchanges in 65 countries.
iShares confirms its market leadership with assets of $5.40 trillion and a 28.0% market share. Vanguard ranks second with $4.13 trillion (21.4%), followed by State Street with $1.95 trillion (10.1%). These three providers collectively hold 59.6% of global assets.
Analyzing October inflows by category:
Equity ETFs attracted $138.92 billion.
Fixed income ETFs gathered $52.06 billion.
Commodity ETFs saw inflows of $9.61 billion.
Active ETFs collected $75.79 billion.
The 20 ETFs with the highest net inflows during the month collectively gathered $95.48 billion. The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO US) recorded the single largest net inflow, at $17.74 billion.
The 10 ETPs with the highest net inflows collectively gathered $2.53 billion. The Japan Physical Gold ETF (1540 JP) led the ranking with an inflow of $500.23 million.
In October, investors showed a tendency to invest primarily in equity ETFs.
