Schroders has completed the listing of two new active equity ETFs: the Schroder Europe Equity Active UCITS ETF and the Schroder Japan Equity Active UCITS ETF. The two funds, managed by the UK-based firm’s Quantitative Equity Products (QEP) team, were initially listed on Xetra Deutsche Börse on 2 September 2026, before also being listed on the LSE, Borsa Italiana and SIX Swiss Exchange on 9 September. Both feature a competitive TER of 0.25 per cent and focus on stocks with Value and Quality characteristics in their respective target markets.
Technical details of the new ETFs
The Schroder Europe Equity Active UCITS ETF (ISIN IE000RJ3QL33) is a euro-denominated accumulation fund, with the MSCI Europe (Net TR) as its benchmark. The Schroder Japan Equity Active UCITS ETF (ISIN IE000MMDB5G8) is also an accumulation fund but is denominated in yen, with the MSCI Japan (Net TR) as its benchmark. Neither fund provides currency hedging.
Both charge a TER of 0.25 per cent and share the same investment philosophy as the other equity ETFs in the Schroders range, replicating the Schroder QEP Global Core strategy managed by the same team.
Track record of the underlying strategy
In its launch press release, Schroders highlights that the Global Core strategy boasts a track record of over 25 years, having outperformed its benchmark in 21 of the 26 years since its launch, calculated on the basis of gross composite performance in US dollars according to internal calculations updated to August 2026.
Multiple listings and tickers
The two ETFs are tradable on various European exchanges under the following codes:
Schroder Europe Equity Active UCITS ETF (IE000RJ3QL33):
LSE EUR/USD line: SEUE
LSE GBP line: SEUP
Schroder Japan Equity Active UCITS ETF (IE000MMDB5G8):
LSE EUR/USD line: SJEA
LSE GBP line: SJPP
Tom Stephens, Head of ETFs at Schroders, described this launch as a significant step in the expansion of the active ETF platform, responding to growing client demand. The two new sub-funds enhance the regional equity offering, combining a risk profile that is lower than the index’s with the potential for incremental alpha across various market scenarios.
Growth of the active ETF range
These launches form part of a process that began in September 2025 with the first two active UCITS ETFs, and continued in the first half of 2026 with the addition of a Custom Global Equity ETF and a US equity ETF. Schroders’ range of active UCITS ETFs has reached $3.7 billion in assets under management in less than a year, as at 7 August 2026.
Future outlook
With its entry into the European and Japanese markets, Schroders further expands the geographical coverage of its active equity ETF offering, which already included global and US strategies.
