Part of a three-class range
The State Street SPDR S&P 400 U.S. Mid Cap UCITS ETF is offered in three share classes:
USD Unhedged (Acc) – ISIN IE00B4YBJ215, launched on 30 January 2012. It has been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 2 February 2012 in US dollars (ticker SPY4) and since 4 April 2022 in sterling (ticker SPX4).
USD Unhedged (Dist) – ISIN IE000UYVEVN3, the share class now listed in London.
EUR Hedged (Dist) – a euro-hedged distributing class, ticker US4E.
All share classes track the same index and carry a TER of 0.30%. Until the London listing of US4D, UK investors trading on the LSE had access to this strategy through the accumulating class only. The new listing gives them a distributing option in US dollars.
The fund changed its name on 19 February 2026. It was previously called the SPDR® S&P® 400 U.S. Mid Cap UCITS ETF (Dist). The change added the State Street name to the fund’s branding.
Conclusions
The London listing of US4D adds a distributing, US dollar-denominated line of State Street Investment Management’s S&P MidCap 400 ETF to the UK market. The strategy is the same as that of the accumulating class, which has traded on the LSE since 2012 and holds most of the fund’s USD 6.2 billion in assets. The distributing class pays income quarterly, is eligible for ISAs and SIPPs, and has UK reporting status.
