According to Fidelity International, both ETFs combine active equity selection with a downside buffer target. The issuer states that this targeted level of protection is not guaranteed.

How the Dynamic Buffer strategy works

Fidelity International says the strategy rests on two main components:

the firm’s Research Enhanced equity approach, which uses Fidelity’s proprietary research for stock selection;

a strategy that seeks to cushion losses during moderate market declines through a systematic downside buffer target.

ESG factors are also considered when assessing investment risks and opportunities.

A buffer target, not a guarantee

Fidelity states that the targeted buffer level is designed to adjust gradually over time as markets move. The protection is therefore neither fixed nor guaranteed.

The issuer presents the mechanism as a way to help investors stay invested through market cycles while retaining the growth potential of equities. For both ETFs, the central point emphasized by Fidelity is that the buffer is a variable target and does not constitute a capital guarantee.

European listing timetable

Fidelity International announced the following listing dates for both ETFs:

21 October 2026: Borsa Italiana (ETFplus) and Xetra;

22 October 2026: London Stock Exchange;

26 October 2026: SIX Swiss Exchange (target date).

Commenting on the launch, Neil Davies, Head of ETFs at Fidelity International, said that market corrections are a recurring feature of equity investing and can occur without warning. For investors, he added, the challenge is to navigate these periods without losing sight of their long-term objectives.

Davies explained that the Dynamic Buffer range was designed with this in mind, combining Fidelity’s research-driven equity approach with “a systematic downside buffer target.” According to Davies, the launch introduces a new type of equity solution into the company’s active ETF range and broadens the choice available to clients as Fidelity continues to grow its offering.

Fidelity International’s active ETF range

The launch comes a few weeks after the introduction of the Equity Enhanced Yield range.

With the two Dynamic Buffer ETFs, Fidelity International’s active ETF range rises to 30 products. At the launch of the Enhanced Yield range, the firm reported 28. Fidelity also reports US$16.6bn in ETF assets and describes itself as one of the largest providers of active ETFs in Europe.

Conclusions

Fidelity International has added two equity funds to its active ETF range, one global and one focused on the United States. Both pair research-based stock selection with a target of containing losses during moderate market declines. The buffer is dynamic and not guaranteed.
