Tracking the performance of listed European defense companies, this innovative ETF offers investors a unique opportunity to tap into the growing European defense sector, which is expected to benefit from increased government spending on defense and security. The launch of the BNP Paribas Easy Bloomberg Europe Defense ETF is part of BNP Paribas Asset Management’s ongoing efforts to provide investors with relevant investment solutions that address the evolving market dynamics. - A diversified portfolio of companies involved in the defense industry
- A cost-effective and convenient way to invest in the European defense thematic
- Eligibility for French PEA1
The BNP Paribas Easy Bloomberg Europe Defense ETF replicates the Bloomberg Europe Defense Select Index, which comprises a selection of around 30 European defense companies listed on major European stock exchanges. The fund provides investors with a diversified portfolio of companies involved in the defense industry, including aerospace, defense electronics, and shipbuilding.
Marie Sophie Pastant, Head of ETF/Index portfolio management at BNP Paribas Asset Management:
“In alignment with BNP Paribas Group’s support for the defense industry, our commitment is reflected in the development of an innovative ETF, tracking the Bloomberg Europe Defense Index. Instead of a standard defense sector screen, the index uses Bloomberg’s Business Intelligence to identify companies with real strategic relevance to the defense ecosystem. The fund follows a market capitalization-weighted methodology, enhanced by specific diversification rules to ensure balanced exposure. We believe this approach offers a compelling investment opportunity for those seeking exposure to the defense industry.”
Sabrina Principi, newly appointed Global Head of business development – ETFs and Indices at BNP Paribas Asset Management:
“We are excited to launch this innovative ETF, which offers investors an interesting opportunity to invest in the European defense sector. The European defense industry is expected to experience significant growth in the coming years. Our BNP Paribas Easy Bloomberg Europe Defense ETF provides investors with a convenient and cost-effective way to tap into this growth, thanks to a first-year preferential pricing strategy.”
Dave Gedeon, CEO of Bloomberg Index Services Limited:
“We are proud to partner with BNP Paribas Asset Management on the launch of their new ETF tracking the Bloomberg European Defense Select Index (BSHIELD). Developed using Bloomberg’s proprietary data and shaped by our research and development teams, BSHIELD is built to lead by addressing the limitations of traditional defense indices. It reflects the evolution of the sector and supports our ongoing work to create indices that align with where investors are going next.”
