ETFGI reports the global ETFs industry gathered net inflows of US$45.94 billion during June 2022

ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETFs/ETPs ecosystem, reported today the global ETFs industry gathered net inflows of 45.94 billion US dollars during June, bringing year-to-date net inflows to US$463.81 billion. During June 2022, assets invested globally in the ETF/ETP industry decreased by 6.4%, from US$9.46 trillion at the end of May to US$8.86 trillion, according to ETFGI’s June 2022 global ETFs and ETPs industry landscape insights report. (All dollar values in USD unless otherwise noted.)

Highlights

    Assets of $8.86 Tn invested in ETFs/ETPS listed globally at the end of H1 2022.

    Assets decreased 13.7% in H1 2022, going from $10.27 Tn at end of 2021 to $8.86 Tn.

    Net inflows of $45.94 Bn during June.

    H1 2022 net inflows of $463.81 Bn are the second highest on record, after net inflows in H1 2021 of

    $659.25 Bn.

    $1.10 Tn in net inflows gathered in the past 12 months.

    37th month of consecutive net inflows.

    Equity ETFs and ETPs listed globally saw $32.31 Bn in net inflows in June 2022.

 “The S&P 500 decreased by 8.25% in June and is down by 19.96% in the first half of 2022. Developed markets excluding the US decreased by 9.94% in June and are down 20.09% in H1 2022. Luxembourg (down 20.27%) and Korea (down 17.54%) saw the largest decreases amongst the developed markets in June, while Hong Kong (up 1.40%) saw the largest increase. Emerging markets decreased by 5.19% during June and are down 16.12% in H1 2022. Colombia (down 24.12%) and Brazil (down 20.14%) saw the largest decreases amongst emerging markets in June, while China (up 6.53%) saw the largest increase.” According to Deborah Fuhr, managing partner, founder and owner of ETFGI.

The Global ETFs industry had 10,483 products, with 21,604 listings, assets of $8.86 Tn, from 644 providers on 80 exchanges in 63 countries at the end of June.

During June, ETFs/ETPs listed globally gathered net inflows of $45.94 Bn. Equity ETFs/ETPs gathered net inflows of $32.31 Bn during  June, bringing H1 net inflows to $277.22 Bn, lower than the $459.34 Bn in net inflows equity products attracted in H1 2021. Fixed income ETFs/ETPs gathered net inflows of $4.27 Bn during June, bringing net inflows in H1 to $85.37 Bn, lower than the $111.60 Bn in net inflows fixed income products had attracted in H1 2021. Commodities ETFs/ETPs reported net outflows of $3.86 Bn during June, bringing H1 net inflows to $13.83 Bn, higher than the $4.93 Bn in net outflows commodities products had reported in H1 2021. Active ETFs/ETPs attracted net inflows of $9.15 Bn in June,  and have gathered $64.33 Bn in H1, lower than the $82.37 Bn in net inflows active products had reported in H1 2021.

Substantial inflows can be attributed to the top 20 ETFs by net new assets, which collectively gathered $42.65 Bn during June. Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO US) gathered $6.91 Bn, the largest individual net inflow.
