The product combines a core allocation to global equity markets with an active selection of ETFs exposed to three mega-themes: Environment and Resources, Social and Demographic Change, and Technology. The portfolio is accessible with a minimum investment of $500 or €500 and is available to residents of several European countries, including Italy.

The Structure of the Key Themes & Convictions Portfolio

eToro’s new portfolio adopts a hybrid structure, designed to balance basic market exposure with thematic growth opportunities. Its composition is divided into two distinct components.

Table: Structure of the Key Themes & Convictions Portfolio

Component Portfolio Allocation Strategic Objective

Component PortfolioAllocationStrategic Objective
Core AllocationApproximately 2/3 of the portfolioStable, long-term exposure to global equity market trends, based on Amundi’s macroeconomic outlook.
Active ThemesApproximately 1/3 of the portfolioActive selection of ETFs focused on three high-conviction mega-themes identified as drivers of long-term transformative growth.

This architecture reflects Amundi’s approach to 2026, which envisages a context of “controlled disorder” and recommends a moderately pro-risk strategy, supporting equities but with selectivity due to high valuations.

The Three Mega-Themes for Investment

One-third of the portfolio is dedicated to an active basket of ETFs linked to three thematic areas, each divided into specific sub-themes. These trends have been identified by Amundi’s experts as structural forces that are set to shape the global economy in the long term.

  1. Environment and Resources: This theme encompasses the energy transition and natural resource management. Sub-themes include alternative energies, water, pollution and recycling, the food supply chain, natural resources and conventional energy. Amundi’s focus for 2026 is on electrification and the green transition, with particular mention of water management, which is crucial for cooling data centres, and a renewed interest in nuclear energy as a stable source of power for technological infrastructure.
  2. Social and Demographic Change: This theme addresses developments in population dynamics and social behaviour. It covers sub-themes such as changes in lifestyles, consumption and population ageing, healthcare, infrastructure, the financial sector and emerging markets. Amundi sees opportunities in industrial policies and increases in defence and infrastructure spending in Europe, which could support small and medium-sized companies with exposure to domestic spending.
  3. Technology: This theme aims to capture growth resulting from technological innovation. Selected sub-themes include robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), IT and materials technology. Amundi expects capital expenditure on technology to remain dominant in 2026, but to expand beyond the United States to regions such as Europe, Japan and parts of emerging markets. The institution favours a combination of exposure to AI and sectors such as manufacturing, which benefit from investment.

The Strategic Context and eToro’s Offering

The launch of this portfolio comes amid a volatile market environment.

eToro’s Approach

eToro positions this product as a disciplined, long-term solution. The portfolio is part of the platform’s “Smart Portfolio” range, which offers diversified exposure to various market themes. Investors can monitor performance via dedicated tools and charts on the platform, which also provides a social feed for industry updates.

Expanding the Offering with Amundi ETFs

As part of the partnership, eToro has significantly expanded the selection of Amundi products on its platform, adding 120 ETFs covering various asset classes, such as equities, fixed income and commodities. This gives users greater flexibility to build customised investment strategies in addition to the thematic portfolio.

Considerations for Investors

The Key Themes & Convictions Portfolio is presented as a tool for retail investors seeking simplified, managed exposure to long-term growth trends. Here are some key elements to consider:

  • Accessibility and Availability: The minimum initial investment is £500. The portfolio is available in two versions, USD and EUR, and is offered exclusively to residents of a defined set of countries, including Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
  • Documentation and Regulation: As with all investment products, it is essential that investors consult the Key Information Document (KID) before investing. This document, which is required by law, provides essential details about the nature, risks, costs and potential returns of the product.

In summary, the collaboration between eToro and Amundi aims to democratise access to sophisticated thematic investment strategies, traditionally reserved for institutional investors, by offering them to a retail audience through the convenient structure of ETFs.
