Product positioning
This is the firm’s third actively managed US equity ETF, bringing the total number of Franklin Templeton’s UCITS ETFs dedicated to US equities to twelve. The product is registered for distribution in twelve European countries: Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
The ETF invests primarily in US large-cap equities and equity-like securities. The aim is to combine a current income stream with the potential for capital appreciation, offering investors diversified exposure to the US market with a profile designed to limit volatility.
The product can be used as a core component of an equity allocation or as a supplementary source of income, including for retirement planning.
The management team
Management is entrusted to Franklin Income Investors, a team based in San Ramon, California, specialising in multi-asset income strategies across equities and bonds. The team manages assets of over $105 billion and is responsible, among other funds, for the Franklin Income Strategy, launched in 1948 and one of the firm’s longest-running funds in the income segment.
The portfolio managers of the new ETF are Todd Brighton (CFA), Brendan Circle (CFA) and Edward D. Perks (CFA), Chief Investment Officer of Franklin Income Investors. Collectively, the three managers have over seventy years’ experience in managing income-oriented strategies across various market cycles.
The team’s approach is based on bottom-up fundamental analysis and a disciplined risk management process, aimed at identifying companies capable of offering attractive current returns and capital growth over time.
Edward D. Perks, Chief Investment Officer of Franklin Income Investors and portfolio manager, said:
“At Franklin Income Investors, we believe that current income is an essential component of long-term wealth creation. For over 75 years, we have adopted an active, research-driven investment approach that aims to generate attractive returns and growth potential across different market cycles. With the Franklin US Income Equity Focus UCITS ETF, we are making this philosophy accessible to European investors in the form of an actively managed strategy. The aim is to generate income, enable investors to participate in the US equity market and, at the same time, actively manage the risk of increased volatility.”
Franklin Templeton’s ETF platform
Franklin Templeton’s global ETF platform offers both index-tracking and actively managed products. As at 8 May 2026, the platform’s total assets under management stood at approximately $72 billion. The launch of the new product is part of the group’s strategy to bring active management expertise—historically developed in discretionary mandates and mutual funds—to the UCITS ETF format.
