  • PT Asset Management and HANetf have listed the Performance Trust Total Return Bond UCITS ETF (ticker: PTAM) on London Stock Exchange (LSE).
  • The ETF was listed on Xetra and Borsa Italiana in October. Using the new Overseas Funds Regime (OFR), the ETF is now listed on LSE, marking HANetf’s first use of the OFR.
  • The ETF aims to provide exposure to U.S. bonds, while employing PT Asset Management’s unique Shape Management methodology to target long-term performance and consistent growth across both rising and falling rate environments.
  • The ETF is actively managed by the expert team at PT Asset Management.
  • This is the fifth active ETF launched on the HANetf platform.

The ETF previously listed on Xetra in Germany and Milan’s Borsa Italiana in October 2024. HANetf listed the PTAM ETF on LSE using the new Overseas Funds Regime (OFR). Despite industry concerns surround the length of the OFR process, HANetf found it seamless and quick. The process was very efficient and took a much shorter time frame than was expected.

PT Asset Management is a Chicago-based boutique fixed income asset manager, founded in 2008. Since then, they have accrued over $8 billion in assets under management (AUM) across their three mutual funds and one ETF. Now, they are entering Europe with the launch of PTAM.
The ETF aims to provide exposure to U.S. bonds, a $59.9 trillion market, while employing PT Asset Management’s unique Shape Management methodology to target long-term performance and consistent growth across both rising and falling rate environments.

Nearly 30 years ago, PT Asset Management’s founders recognised the problems with traditional fixed income metrics, such as inaccurate interest rate predictions and yield metrics based on incomplete information and assumptions. They therefore developed Shape Management, a maths-based investment process that addresses these shortcomings by analysing the risk-return profile of a bond’s future cashflows.

This unique, interest-rate agnostic approach to fixed income helps to curate a portfolio that looks very different from its peers and provides exposure to many niche fixed income sectors.

With PTAM, HANetf has now launched five active ETFs on its platform. Active ETFs accounted for a record 25% of global ETF flows in the first half of this year, with Europe alone seeing $5.9 billion inflows. The active ETF wave has arrived in Europe, and all signs suggest it is here to stay.

Dranfield Sean PT Asset ManagementSean Dranfield, CEO and Principal at PT Asset Management, comments:

“We are thrilled to bring an efficient and time-tested methodology to a new cohort of investors. The listing of the UCITS ETF on LSE not only represents our first venture in the UK market, it is a testament to PT Asset Management’s commitment to provide investors with fixed income strategies that help navigate the complexities of global financial markets.”

Hector McNeil, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of HANetf, comments:

“We are delighted to be listing the Performance Trust Total Return Bond UCITS ETF (PTAM) on LSE. The press was filled with scare stories about the length of time and complexities around using the OFR. Thankfully, these fears turned out to be misplaced. We can now say we have now tested using the OFR and found the process seamless and fast. So, not only is this listing positive in terms of bringing a new product to the UK market, it is also a boost to the wider ETF industry.

“PT Asset Management’s unique Shape Management process was developed nearly 30 years ago, and has since been tried and tested in the U.S. The new UCITS ETF looks to use this process, alongside PT Asset Management’s wealth of experience, to provide investors with the possibility of achieving long-term performance and consistent growth across a variety of rate environments.

“This is the fifth active ETF HANetf has launched this year, and there are more on the way. The active space is ramping up, and launches like these demonstrate the rapid growth of the space, as well as HANetf’s commitment to being one of the leading active ETF issuers. When investors think of active ETFs, we want them to think of HANetf. We expect to have the broadest range of active ETFs on our platform within the next 6 months, including fixed income, equity, and defined outcome strategies.”
