The KraneShares Global Humanoid and Embodied Intelligence Index UCITS ETF (ticker: KOID) officially launched on the LSE today .
This new fund is designed to track the MerQube Global Humanoid and Embodied Intelligence Index, an equal-weighted benchmark that targets companies at the forefront of developing and manufacturing humanoid robots and their critical supply chains. KOID’s investment strategy is built on the premise that the convergence of advanced artificial intelligence with physical robotics will be a defining technological trend of the coming decades.
The fund’s launch is underpinned by compelling long-term market projections from major financial institutions. Morgan Stanley’s Global Humanoid Model forecasts a potential market of 1 billion humanoid robots generating $5 trillion in annual revenue by 2050 . Similarly, Goldman Sachs has highlighted the sector’s explosive growth potential, with one market analysis citing a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 41.8% for the humanoid robot market over the next ten years .
KOID aims to capture this opportunity by investing across the entire humanoid ecosystem. Its holdings are structured to cover the “brain” (semiconductors and core technology), the “body” (actuation, mechanical systems, and advanced materials), and the “integrators” (companies that design and manufacture the final humanoid products) .
The ETF provides global exposure, with a primary focus on companies based in the United States, China, and Japan. Its portfolio is expected to be concentrated in the information technology, industrial, and consumer discretionary sectors, reflecting the cross-cutting nature of this emerging industry .
With a backdrop of a growing global labor shortage, particularly in nations with aging populations, the demand for advanced robotics solutions capable of performing complex, human-like tasks is seen as a powerful structural tailwind for the sector. KOID offers a single, liquid instrument for investors seeking to capitalize on this transformative shift from theoretical AI to physical, embodied intelligence that can work alongside humans.
Dr. Xiaolin Chen, Head of International at KraneShares, said: “Humanoid robotics and embodied intelligence represent one of the most exciting technological frontiers of our time. KOID enables investors to participate in this global transformation by providing balanced exposure to both today’s market leaders and the innovators shaping the future.”
