The UBS (Irl) ETF plc – MSCI United Kingdom IMI Socially Responsible UCITS ETF began trading on 18 November 2025.
The fund’s objective is to track the performance of the MSCI UK IMI Extended SRI 5% Issuer Capped Index. This index is composed of UK-based companies that meet specific ESG standards. The fund’s strategy explicitly excludes companies involved in nuclear power, tobacco, alcohol, gambling, military weapons, civilian firearms, and genetically modified organisms.
The ETF will employ a full replication strategy to achieve its goal. This means it intends to hold all the constituents of the underlying index in their approximate weightings, aiming to create a portfolio that closely mirrors the index.
A notable feature of the index methodology is the 5% issuer cap. This mechanism limits the weight of any single company within the index to 5%, which helps to prevent over-concentration in any one stock and promotes diversification.
The fund is structured as a UCITS (Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities) fund, domiciled in Ireland. Its base currency is British Pound Sterling (GBP). According to the document, the fund will also offer hedged share classes for investors seeking to mitigate currency risk. These will be denominated in Euro (EUR), US Dollar (USD), Swiss Franc (CHF), Singapore Dollar (SGD), and Canadian Dollar (CAD).
The product is designed for investors seeking a diversified exposure to the UK equity market through a single investment, while applying a strict set of ESG exclusionary filters and a built-in cap on individual company weightings.
