  • HANetf lists 16 new UCITS ETFs on Mexico’s Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV)
  • The new listings will widen Mexican access to the favoured UCITS wrapper
  • HANetf currently offers the most extensive range of thematic ETFs in Europe , the new listings give Mexican investors better access to these innovative investment themes

Included among the 16 ETFs listing is Procure Space UCITS ETF (YODA), the first space economy ETF in a UCITS wrapper. Also listing is the highly-popular EMQQ Emerging Markets Internet & Ecommerce UCITS ETF (EMQQ), which invests in emerging market e-commerce and tech platforms. The ex-China version of this ETF is also listing, FMQQ Next Frontier Internet & Ecommerce ESG-S UCITS ETF (FMQQ). One the leading constituents in both these ETFs is Mercado Libre which represents 4.6%  in the former and 10.1% in the latter.

Another listing is ETC Group Digital Assets & Blockchain Equity UCITS ETF (KOIN), that focuses on companies in the cryptocurrency and blockchain eco-system. This fund has a high correlation with Bitcoin and is therefore used by many investors for proxy exposure to the cryptocurrency and  blockchain related companies.  Other ETFs listings include: ESG-screened gold miners, distributed energy, 5g infrastructure, cloud computing, cleaner living, airlines, travel and leisure, online gambling and renewable energy.

Several of these UCITS ETFs have sister 40 Act ETF versions listed in North America. These cross-listings will now give Mexican investors access to these strategies in a UCITS ETF wrapper. The UCITS wrapper has become increasingly favoured by Mexican and Latin American investors due to recognition of its robust regulation and governance structure. Demand is also thought to be increasing for UCITS products in Mexico due to the preferential tax treatment of UCITS compared to alternative wrappers.

The listing marks part of the continued expansion of HANetf into the Mexican market. Earlier this year, HANetf announced it had partnered with Mexican broker Casa de Bolsa Finamex, SAB de CV ‘Finamex’, to jointly develop a UCITS ETF. The ETF will be listed on exchanges in Europe and on Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV) during the first half of 2022.

HANetf is an independent provider of UCITS ETFs, working with asset managers and entrepreneurial businesses to bring differentiated, modern and innovative products to European ETF investors. HANetf have issued over 30 thematic, crypto and real asset exchange trade products across Europe in the last 3 years for partners in the US, Canada, UK, Europe, the Middle East and now Mexico. HANetf’s range of thematic ETFs is the most extensive in Europe.

HANetf is Europe’s most extensive provider of thematic ETFs, and by listing on the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores we are providing Mexican investors with easier access to these innovative, megatrend and disruptive themes, be it blockchain, advance technology, travel and leisure or the space economy.”
